Salary: Hay 8 (£25,991 – £28,672)

We have an exciting opportunity to join Avon Fire & Rescue Service as an Environmental Officer. Within this role you will assist the Environmental Manager to develop, implement and manager AF&RS’ environmental and sustainability plans, policies and procedures.
The Environmental Officer will help to develop an ISO 14001- compliant Environmental Management System (EMS) covering all AFRS sites and operations, working to achieve continual improvement of AFRS’ environmental performance. You will also manage the metering and monitoring systems to track, report upon and identify improvements in environmental performance.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about and has a good understanding of environmental issues. It is key to this role that you have a basic knowledge/experience of Environmental (or other ISO-compliant) Management Systems.
The successful candidate will have project experience in order to be able to implement projects and deliver quality outcomes. You must be computer literate and be able to carry out research, undertake detailed data analysis and produce statistical reports.
It is essential that you hold a current full driving licence or access to suitable transport to travel to various locations across our service area.
A basic knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, statutory requirements, standards and best practice and professional qualification and/or membership in a relevant field would be beneficial.
This post is based at our Headquarters which we share with Avon & Somerset Police. There is a mandatory requirement to undergo a security clearance check to work on this site.
