Based at: Avon Fire & Rescue Service - various locations
Contract: Fixed Term 24 months (possible extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week (part time or job share considered)
Salary: Hay 4 (£40,876 - £43,857)

The Forensic Science Regulator has determined that all fire scene investigations that may enter the criminal justice system must, by 1st Oct 2023, be undertaken by organisations that are accredited to ISO/IEC 17020:2012.
This role will coordinate and lead work with relevant members of the Fire Investigation (FI) Teams in stakeholder Fire & Rescue Services (FRS) and Police to deliver a sustainable and cost effective approach to fire investigation conducted by FRS, which enables accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020:2012 be achieved and maintained.
The successful post-holder will review current internal FI processes and develop options and proposals (supported by resource and cost estimates) for the future provision of FI, including if required across the stakeholder services, which are cost effective and enable delivery and maintenance of ISO 17020. The post-holder will also be responsible for researching and developing a project plan for gaining ISO 17020 accreditation.
In order to be considered for this role you must be hold a Skills for Justice, Level 5 Award in Fire Investigations. You must also hold a MSc in Fire Investigations (or equivalent including theoretical knowledge), have a NEBOSH qualification and IOSH qualification (or equivalent), a Foundation or Practitioner qualification in Project Management or relevant project management experience and must have undertaken an expert witness course or legal training. A driving licence is required for this post.
