DICE Community Engagement Officer
Based at: Service Headquarters, Portishead
Contract: Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: Hay 8 (£28,371 - £31,099) per annum

An opportunity has arisen to join Avon Fire & Rescue Service as a Diversity, Inclusion, Cohesion and Equality (DICE) Community Engagement Officer within the DICE Team. Under the supervision of the DICE Officer, the role of the DICE Community Engagement Officer is to build strong links with communities across our Service geographical areas and ensure the Service has continued visibility and engagement with the community through external events and collaborative partnership work.
The DICE Community Engagement Officer will work with the DICE Officer to develop and implement policies to support and sustain external engagement and relations with diverse communities. You will identify and build relationships with community leaders across the Service geographical area to promote the role of AF&RS and support community safety through engagement and partnership working. This will include working in partnership with Stand Against Racism and Inequality (SARI) and other similar organisations across diverse communities.
To be considered for this position, it is essential that you have knowledge of issues affecting communities in the geographical areas covered by AF&RS. You must have experience of working and building relationships with diverse communities or organisations, and with specialist organisations to support DICE work. The successful post holder must have strong general IT skills and an ability to work with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly using Excel to interpret and present data.
It is also essential that you hold a current driving licence or ability to arrange suitable alternative transport to travel to various work locations.
