Avon Fire and Rescue Service is seeking to appoint ambitious and forward-thinking individuals to the role of Station Manager B - Business Fire Safety Manager within its Protection function.

The Service is specifically looking for individuals at Watch Manager level seeking promotion to the Station Manager role. Applications are welcome from substansive Watch Managers with significant Business Fire Safety experience and qualifications who are currently or have previously worked within the Regulatory Reform ‘Fire Safety’ Order 2005.

The promotion process will consist of the following:

Application form and personal statement

Leadership Interview

Operational ICL 2 Assessment

Final role based interview

Progression at each stage is subject to a sift or the candidate passing with sufficient scores at each level. As a manager within the Prevention and Protection directorate, you will play a key role in fire protection and protecting the wider community, through inspection programmes, education and engagement within our Service area. This will include developing policies and procedures for educational initiatives to support the work of the Business Fire Safety function.

You will act as the professional lead within this area, providing advice and guidance to staff and managers across the organisation. You will anticipate and interpret the impact of legislative changes and the risk profile affecting this group and brief Senior Managers to ensure the Service adapts its policies and strategy accordingly.

When on duty you will be expected to respond operationally to anywhere within the Service area within a reasonable timeframe as part of the Flexi duty role.
