Youth Intervention Lead

Based at:            Office based, potential to work out of various locations across AFRS office spaces, to be discussed at interview

Contract:            Permanent

Hours:                 37 hours per week

Salary:                 Hay 8 (£28,371 - £31,099) per annum

A number of opportunities have arisen to join Avon Fire and Rescue Service as a Youth Intervention Lead within our Children and Young Persons Team. We’re looking for someone to be responsible for the identification, design and delivery of targeted children and young people interventions, in order to reduce the risks to them through education on fire, water and road safety. The Youth Intervention Lead will research and develop resources to support the delivery of interventions to ensure that youth engagement levels remain consistently high in order to achieve the most impact.


The Youth Intervention Lead will lead area of one or more children and young person’s work responsibilities by scoping relevant opportunities, project planning and delivering an appropriate intervention to meet children and young people’s needs and improve their life chances. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with children and young people services within each Unitary Authority and other stakeholders to explore collaborative working opportunities, seek advice and support or deliver key interventions where appropriate.


To be considered for one of these positions, it is essential you have a level 3 qualification relevant to the role (for example in education, youth work, child development, business administration, supervisory management). You must have a good knowledge and understanding of the importance of robust safeguarding practices. The successful post holder must have recent experience of practical teaching, youth work, or working with large groups of children and young persons. You must be able to quickly build rapport with children & young people and deal with individuals in an empathetic and confidential manner, including managing social and emotional behaviour.


It is essential that you hold a current driving licence or ability to arrange suitable alternative transport to travel to various work locations.
